Warhammer: The Dark Ages
by P. Slevin
The End
Well folks, looks like I've pretty much gone through everything
I wanted to here. If there are enough impassioned pleas to
my email address I might consider writing further editions
of this column, but I need to know what you need covered.
And therefore, I turn my eye to...
Adventures In The Dark Ages
The vast majority of standard WFRP scenarios are perfectly
feasable in a Dark Ages setting. However, the socio-political
division present add further depths to many of these.
Spy Games
The Empire is divided. Any side could hire the Pcs to gain
specific information on the enemy. They might even do this,
before tipping off the enemy. The idea behind this is surprisingly
simple. The Pcs are asked to gather information on an enemy
strong point that their employers have no intention of attacking.
The captured Pcs will eventualy break, causing the enemy to
move their forces away from the advancing army...
Holy War
Religious intolerance will be rife along the old Sigmar/Ulric
lines, and a similar scenario could be made from this. Further
political intregue might be caused by agitators against the
state religion. The lies of Chaos can be slipped into this,
creating heretical versions of standard faiths which may or
may not stand against the state's faith.
Economic Sabotage
Pcs may be hired to sabotage one factions economic base in
some way. This could be as simple as assassiating all pro-Ulric
guild heads, or an elaborate plot to debase the area's coinage...
Northern Boarders
In Kislev, the hordes of the ruinous powers stir. They pour
upon the lines drawn by humanity like waves against the shore.
There is a fortune awaiting anyone who can survive long enough
on the northern battle lines. Note that the key word here
is survive...
The Enemy Within
Mordheim. City Of The Damned. The place we started our journey.
Death and glory, power and agony, all wait here. If the Pcs
can get in and out relitively unscathed without making too
many enemys, they will be set for life. That's a big if. An
entire campaign can be based here given the number offactions
involved.
The Rise Of Magnus
Finaly, the PCs could get caught up in Magnus' campaign, meeting
the likes of Teclis along the way.
From Darkness To Light
One final aspect to consider is what becomes of the aspects
in the dark ages campaign in the modern ages?
The Shadow Cults would still exist in places, though much
reduced in power. The ruins of Mordheim would most likely
consist of a few over-grown walls.
As to the Shadowlord?? Well, Praag currently claim to have
Arianka's coffin. What if that isn't Arianka? If he did escape,
where is he now? The wastes would be unwelcoming to him, as
a renegade. Perhaps he was able to take on Human form. Anyone
the Pcs meet could be something more than he appears...
