Who hires who?

version 1.2

by Natascha Chrobok and Mark "rinku" Dewis

Every Mordheim-player knows the problem: you have enough money to hire one of the Hired Swords but you are not sure if he can be hired by your Warband. Some of the rules for new hired swords published in Town Cryer-magazine are very vague while the Hired Swords described in the Mordheim Rulebook only deal with the original Warbands (Mercenaries, Sisters, Possessed, Undead, Witchhunters, Skaven). This article shall give you an idea about which warband can hire which Hired Sword. Although we tried to create the list below with all the official rules in mind it is possible that your personal opinion may be different than ours. We would be happy to hear your suggestions and ideas. Just send an email to Server Goddess or use the Mordheim-Forum in our Community-section. Please note that this article is also available for download in .pdf-format in our Download-section.

Warband Alignment

Many of the descriptions of the Hired Swords in Town Cryer speak evil and non-evil Warbands. Therefore it is an important thing to decide who is "good" and who is "bad" before choosing the Hired Sword. We recommend the following:

Good Warbands Neutral Warbands Evil Warbands
Bretonnians Amazons Beastmen
Shadow Warriors Dwarfs Dark Elves
Sisters of Sigmar Empire Mercenaries* Orks
Witch Hunters Kislevites Pirates
  Lizardmen Possessed
  Norse Skaven
  Pit Fighters Undead
  Tilean Mercenaries**

*Empire Mercenaries: Averlanders, Marienburgers, Middenheimers, Ostlanders, Reiklanders
**Tilean Mercenaries: Miraglianese, Remasens, Trantios)
